A Review of Assassin’s Creed (The Movie) from YouTube

AssassinsCreed

An enterprising individual has created a movie out of the footage from Assassin’s Creed and I’m here to tell you all about it.  The footage is a mix of the cut scenes and some of the actual gameplay but the story is concentrated on rather than all the side stuff that game mechanics and whatnot force you to play through.  This movie is about what the story is about and is a little over 180 minutes long.  Yes, that’s a hair over 3 hours.

I’ve never played the Assassin’s Creed games, though my wife and I have started AC2 we didn’t get very far.  That is the sequel, though, and this is about the original.

The movie follows the story of Altair, an assassin who has strange skills that no one else has… or is that actually the story?  We are introduced to Desmond, who is in the future (at least from when I write this) who is in a machine that helps him connect with his ancestors, one of which is Altair.  In this machine, the Animus, we learn about Altair and the connections between Altair and Desmond as the story unfolds.

I’m sure there are parts of the story that could have been cut down but since this is on YouTube and fan cut, there isn’t any reason.  A feature film would have to be a little more bound by convention, flow, etc… this was designed, after all, to be a game and not a movie.  I still like the movie.

Yes, I’m jumping over a vast amount of the content to just tell you how I liked the product.  Out of five stars, I’d give this one four.  One must consider the content and the medium with which the fan worked, so I forgive some of the harder cuts, the less than stellar graphics in some locations, and the fact that there certainly parts that drag a little.

I recommend watching this movie and while I write this, I am watching the sequel, which means I’ll probably review that one, too.
