With Sunday’s action behind us, the first of two “highlight” matches take center stage. Shazam CM hosts Sporting Black Cats for a great second day of ESPL matches. At 9′, Shazam’s Core Carson was standing just offside but the referee didn’t see it or didn’t think he was and he put the ball into the net before the goalkeeper even knew where he was standing. Only 9 minutes later, at 18′ Jean-Louis Pepon slides the ball into the corner for a beautiful shot that allowed Sporting Black Cats to even the score. The rest of the first half was fruitless as both sides had chances and neither could convert.
The second half started off with a flurry of chances by Sporting, though nothing came of any of their set pieces or chances created. In extra time, in 91′ Jackson Alexander curls the ball into the back of the net with a well placed free kick to give the lead to Shazam.
The final was 2-1 Shazam CM.
“I was sure we had the game when we scored so early,” said Taoufik Belbani, Shazam CM team captain. “I couldn’t believe we had to wait until extra time to get the winning goal out of Jackson but it was a beautiful thing.”
“We had our chances but we failed to convert them into scoring,” said Sporting Black Cats captain Avendale Borusa. “Jean-Louis did a lovely shot but we couldn’t add another one. Maybe next time.”
